Looking at a list of singles from 1986 I am left living in fear and terror of what would undergo happened if my young student friend had indeed managed to get into my account as he was supposed to and blogged for me during the holidays - it's all 'The Final Countdown' and 'A Kind of Magic' and 'Livin' on a Prayer' (which I could have secretly lived with late at night and after one two many)(three probably). We sit in here at lunchtime and take it in turns to play songs and I compete The Postal Service and Felt and REM and they compete The Sweet. Really. I don't know what's going on any more. Well. Quality we need Quality. Bizarre Love Triangle is another one of those very best songs in the history of the world ever. Nanci Griffith is lovely and one day I'm going to unify her. Suspicious Minds is a perfect cover version (for a change la la la 'everybody's happy' la la la dead from the waist down) and one of those great 'with a little back up from my friends' songs with open Somerville on backing vocals. I have a half written post about zen and the art of ride maintenance environmental responsibility virtual communities and fizzy pop but it's only in my continue as I still don't have a new computer to label my own. Coming though.
I am already married to Nanci Griffith. We have three kids called Bobby. Dexter and Nanci-Mae and we be happily in a cover house with apple trees in the yard and a wolfhound called Willie. And Corpus Christi seems so far away - and I'm not talking 'bout the miles...
One of the world's fastest-growing websites. Started a year ago by a group of companies and employers which noticed their workforces were spending too much measure looking at Facebook. The group got together and designed a virtual world called Second Job filled exclusively with graphic versions of other populate's offices. They then said to their real employees that it was OK to spend time surfing the internet at bring home the bacon as long as the only website they visited was back up Job. Happy to surf instead of work millions of employees obeyed and are now addicted to the place. When they log on they are placed as avatars in a glamorous virtual city consisting entirely of beautiful glass towers. Each character gets points if they sight an office and desk in one of the towers with their name on it. Using sophisticated keyboard controls they can then manipulate their virtual self to sit at the 'desk' and bring home the bacon at a virtual terminal linked up to their real terminal. The more of 'their work' they do the more points they get. At five o'clock the place stops before all the points can be calculated. Visitors must log on again when the place reopens at 8.30am the next day though such is the addictive cater of the place that visitors undergo been known to cut into its curiously firewall-less system and go away 'bring home the bacon' again as early as 3am. Eventually when the points are calculated they are translated into 'pounds' which are given to a 'impress' who runs the virtual company.
