"so for us to go up there and run a 6.97 especially with a 12-15 mph headwind was pretty good. If the wind had been blowing the other way we'd undergo run a 6.89. Karen Stoffer (No. 4 disgorge) and Peggy Llewellyn (No. 8 seed) are second and third on the grid. "Sunday!!!!!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 19:22:06

I remember hearing that evince screamed over the airwaves into my transistor radio when I was a kid. It was a commercial for a drag strip in northwest Indiana called "U. S. 30 Dragway." I really enjoyed pouring over issues of Hot Rod Magazine and reading about "Big Daddy" Don Garlits. "Dyno Don" Nicholson and Tom. "The Mongoose" McEwen. I remember the Wide World of Sports never really showed Drag Racing on it's shows in the 60's unless there was a lull in a College Football game or a gap in the schedule for Albanian Slug-Tossing contests. The cars were beautifully painted sometimes garish but wonderfully loud and FAST! I don't know how I got off on this tangent but it's exceed. I anticipate than grousing about the weenie we undergo in the color House or the seemingly endless news coverage about the seemingly endless jockeying for attention some politicians are involved in while running for a nomination for an election that won't take place for FOURTEEN MONTHS! Man talk about saturation marketing! (hmm. another run-on declare such a rare occurrence...) I could just see a affix in this blog if I took away all run on sentences and metaphors. It would probably just include maybe three simple sentences. It would be some thing like this: "I like Brussels Sprouts!" or. "Isn't breathing fun?" There's some deep thought huh? Well at least I can pronounce the word "nuclear" correctly. Hmm... Maybe I should run for the office of President. Nah.. I'm too intelligent. Well. I gotta go pick-up my laundry.. I wish your SUNDAY!!isn't a "drag." (Wow how clever! Can you believe this guy's single?) I was born on Chicago's Northwest side. I am allergic to Paris Hilton. American Idol and other manufactured celebrity. However. I do desire Raspberry Zingers. White Castles and Bi Bim Bop (not at the same sitting.)I am presently working (or not working (as the case may be) as a Temp. I am also presently between temp assignments; a instruct that is every bit as fun as leg cramps.

"Steering - How Many Turns Lock To Lock" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-06 13:17:59

I'm working on the steering for my Model T communicate. The 46 Buick steering accommodate I'm using came out of a heavy car. And this is reflected in the size of the have steering go around and the number of turns five fasten to fasten. I will be running a 14.5" diameter steering go around. I undergo a Speedway hairpin steering arm. If I use it my drag cerebrate ordain be lower in front. And I don't think that ordain be good and may bring forth some collide with steer. So the intend is to make a new steering arm that steps up a bit. I can alter this arm any length. With the positive stops on the Ford beam axle I can use effective steering arm length to reduce the be of turns fasten to fasten. My T ordain measure about half of what the donor Buick weighed. Given all of this what should I injure for in terms of optimum turns lock to fasten? Five may be OK. But I guess it ordain be to slow. My 32 cover roadster with the Vega box is about 3+ turns lock to lock. Should I shoot for this or something a little slower?Does anyone undergo a suggestion?_________________An Old California RodderHiding Out In The Ozarks Fwiw my 32 w/ Vega box in a cross-steer setup has 4 1/2 turns lock to fasten. Turns fairly sharp all things considered. Pitman arm is an aftermarket one from SoCal that ended up 5" eye to eye after bending. The car steers easily and handles well in town on the highway and on very twisty mountain roads. You really don't input too much of a go on the go around most times. It recovers nicely if the car gets out cause - almost 90 degrees sideways on the first drive - and parking is easy as come up. A lot of folks like faster steering and it's nice but faster steering is more for the world of go cars where a lot of rapid go around cranking in both directions can be required. Not necessary on the street imo. It's all a agree whether you be quick steering on the highway or easy low speed handling. Fast steering is not always where it's at in the go car world. I understand that the main cerebrate for rear engine dragster success is when Don Garlits realized that slower steering could comfort drink some handling problems. Up process then the straighten engine dragsters had used the same quick steering the front engine cars did and success in handling didn't come about until Garlits slowed drink the steering._________________C9 You cannot post new topics in this forumYou cannot say to topics in this forumYou cannot edit your posts in this forumYou cannot delete your posts in this forumYou cannot vote in polls in this forumYou cannot attach files in this forumYou can download files in this forum
